2023's Raffle Quilt

Every year the Calhoun County Texas Quilt Guild creates a magical raffle quilt. Magical because of all the hands and hearts that come together to create a gift that is raffled so that we can continue to contribute to the needs of our communities. On the years that we have the Calhoun County Texas Quilt Show, we pull the lucky ticket at the conclusion of our show.  In other years, the lucky ticket is pulled during the Christmas Party at our December meeting. The love and care that goes into the planning and execution of our Raffle Quilts is legendary.  It is never one or two, but the culmination of many plus the donations of time, effort, design, dedication and love.

2023's Raffle Quilt

This year's Raffle Quilt was designed as a modification to the Happy Trails Pattern by Pearl P. Pereira who has created another applique masterpiece! Having roots in Texas, Pearl says this western-themed album has been a labor of love she felt a need to create. Our modification includes a myriad of different quilting techniques including embroidery, coloring, flying geese, star quilt blocks, pinwheels, applique (both hand and machine) as well as coloring and machine embroidery.

The coordinator of this amazing quilt is Jean Weyhmeyer and is made up of over 633 pieces, lovingly put together by more than 15 extraordinary ladies over the past year.
